I think that just adding a narrow red border and then another background border to the runner would make a great ending.

If you want to make those three inch hearts for the border, they are pretty easy.
Sew together 1½ inch strips of two reds, two pinks, a pink and a background, and a red and a background and cut them into 1½ inch sections. Put those sections into four patches as shown, then add the triangles to each side. The triangles are cut from 2 3/8 inch squares. Space the blocks with 3 by 6 inch rectangles, with a square at each end. I cannot display the pointed end with my EQ software. (Maybe someone knows how I could do that.)
I have not done this yet--the photo from the last post is how far I got before I had to plan a class for middle schoolers. You know I can't go unprepared into that battle.
